Coppice Halifax
02/24/08
The long-rumored
and much overdue full-length CD from Coppice Halifax has
finally arrived! 77 minutes of wet leaves, shorelines,
treebark, smoke, lumber yards, woodshops, erosion and
sunshine, all fit together like rusty puzzle-pieces to form
5 longform collages. Incubated in the humid south since
2006, and picking up where 1983 left off, Coppice Halifax
shares the same family tree as other works by Brian, such as
Eight Thousander or some of the more textural Milieu
releases. Live guitars and organs sit in dusty corners of
the stereo field, scattered bits of dialogue and percussion
filter through the grainy haze of outdoor sounds and vinyl
surface noise, and somehow melodies that sound as old as the
rings on a tree-stump emerge from the din, painting a unique
tapestry of music that is equal parts ambient-cornerstone
and lo-fi cassette tape bliss. Limited to just 60
hand-assembled copies in the EED trademark swivel-case, with
David Tagg's signature design making it a truly special
affair. Topped off with a cool 83 keychain that your friends
are sure to be jealous of!

EEDCD-07
02/09/08
Amazingly, since starting the
EED label in 2004, David Tagg has finally released his first
hardcopy on the EED imprint. The cryptically-labeled
EEDCD-07 boasts almost 2 hours of music spread across a
minimally packaged but evocative double album, and sees
David revisiting the synth-based ambient influences he grew
up with. Somewhat a completion of the musical movements
David initiated on the very first EED release, Extreme
Scenic Route, EEDCD-07 is both oldschool and newschool David
Tagg. Improvised completely on dust-covered synthesizers
David hadn't touched since the Extreme Scenic Route sessions
and laid to warm reel-to-reel tape with the kind of patient
care and consideration David's newer work has shown. The two
discs are set up as daytime and nighttime counterparts; the
first disc leading us through sunny, wide-open scenes where
nature runs wild, while the second disc takes on a more
lucid and sedated motif. All together, this album easily
stands alone as proof that synth-based ambient music does
not have to come with words like "new age" attached, while
also showcasing a faithful revisitation to David's musical
roots. Limited to 20 copies, with beautiful photography by
David and package design by David.

Our Blue Remixes
11/12/07
The long-rumored
Milieu remix album is finally here at last: EED is excited
to announce Our Blue Remixes, a very special collection of
12 remixed songs from Milieu's Our Blue Rainbow album. For
the occasion, Brian has called in favors from several
talented friends to bring their own unique treatments to the
traditional Milieu sound.
EOD kicks it off with a sexy
rework of "Auroral", bringing steady beats and luscious
SH-101 melodies together with his crisp production. "Mellow
U" gets a complete free-jazz makeover courtesy of Brian
Ellis, and Wisp breaks out some funky breaks and big bass on
an epic version of "Kieran Moth". From there we are plunged
into Ourson's murky swamp treatment of "My Friend The Dawn",
Am-Boy's neon-glowing summertime LSD trip "Days Behind", and
Photophob's playful dance take on "Tiffany Lane". Brian
himself steps into the lineup, turning out a textural
ambient-techno version of "Alvin Sparks" under his Coppice
Halifax moniker, then Eluder takes over for a few minutes
with an insectoid mix of "Blue Rainbow". Finally, the drugs
seem to kick in with David Tagg's lush and homesick "Starview"
remix, bringing to mind images of a humid summer night in
the south, off a backwoods dirt road, missing someone you
love. Dissolved gracefully picks up where David ends,
building alien melodies and loops from "For Katie Asleep On
The Bus", giving way to a beautiful pastoral remix of "Glasshill",
sounding pretty and pink as only Mrs. Jynx can. Finally,
Adam Pacione takes the honor of closing this varied
compilation with a sleepy 12-minute meditation on "Rainy
Daylight", crumbling the original song into nothing more
than a lonesome, whispery drone.
We at EED have never heard
a better remix record, and we think you might agree once you
give this one a spin. Limited to exactly 100 copies with
very psychedelic artwork done by David and Brian, preorder
it today!
All orders will
ship on or before November 19th.

EEDCD-05 Ophibre - RED
07/23/07
Ophibre is a
master sound designer, using the most raw sound sources and
improvising with them to intensify the mood of what he wants
to convey. Red is equal parts Obscurist art
installation, free noise, field recordings and live sound
sculpture. It builds itself within the naked space of
isolated acoustics and slowly says what it has to say over
many different shades of Ophibre's red sound palate.
Sometimes dropping out into silence, sometimes festering
into a barrage of claustrophobic noise, this album is like
nothing else you will ever hear, anywhere. Ophibre has taken
the most basic, rudimentary sounds and objects, and he has
given them life here. Limited to 100 hand-assembled copies,
with striking design by David Tagg and Ophibre.
